Culturally Competent Client Conversations

We live in a global society. As estate planning attorneys, financial planners or tax advisors, we must create spaces where our clients can be candid about many personal aspects of their lives, including family dynamics and financial situations. This presentation will cover possible pitfalls that could arise in estate, tax and financial planning if the advisor fails to ask questions that will allow the advisor create an appropriate, customized plan for clients. Join Anne-Marie Kim, Financial Advisor with The Elevage Group at Morgan Stanley, and Christine M. Stroup, Attorney at Brown Law Firm, to learn more about how advisors can create culturally competent conversations in order to discover facts that will allow more effective client advocacy. Ms. Stroup will discuss planning considerations for clients with minor children, clients who are unmarried and living with a significant other, and estate and tax planning for clients with international ties; Ms. Kim will discuss cross-border financial planning and considerations related to different cultural practices that might impact financial planning.
